Lancaster Amish Tours: Every Option, Compared

Buggy rides, farm tours, countryside buses and vans, and visits to Amish homes — with the price, length, and review count each operator actually publishes.

Lancaster County is where most people in the United States come for an Amish tour. The trips are not interchangeable. A buggy ride is half an hour in a horse-drawn carriage. A farm tour walks you through a house and a barn. A bus or van tour covers more back roads with a guide. A homestead experience is the one that stops at a working farm, a workshop, or a family's table.

Prices below were copied on October 15, 2026. Viator "from" prices are per person for departures between October 24 and November 20, 2026. Operator-site prices are the adult rates on that site the same day. Ratings are Viator's combined scores; a blank rating means that operator page did not publish one. Check the booking page before you go — Sunday stops and seasonal hours change the trip.

Buggy rides

Horse-drawn rides are sold by the operators below, not on Viator. Prices are the adult rates on each operator site.

Aaron & Jessica's Buggy Rides

Sunday Ride

Sundays only. The ride passes Amish farms, and the site notes that church districts hold services on Sunday, so carriages are sometimes gathered at farms. Adults are $20, children ages 3–12 are $12, and children 2 and under are free. The page does not publish a duration for this ride.

Amish Farm Tour

A longer carriage ride to a working Amish farm. The driver helps guests off the carriage to see the barn, farm equipment, and animals, and talks about life without grid electricity. Adults are $35, children ages 3–12 are $16, and children 2 and under are free.

Abe's Buggy Rides

3-mile ride

Abe's has run countryside rides in Amish buggies since 1968. The 3-mile ride is $21 for adults 13 and older and $10 for a child under 4 feet. The site says horses set the pace, so times are approximate and the rides are sold by mileage. No reservations; first come, first served.

  • 2596 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird-in-Hand, PA 17505. Phone (717) 392-1794.
  • The site shows hours of 9am–5pm and lists a closure on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. Rides are weather permitting.
  • Buggies hold seven average-sized adults. Leashed pets are welcomed. Cash, checks, and credit or debit cards are accepted.

4.5-mile ride

Passes an Amish one-room schoolhouse and a field of beef cattle. Adults are $38 and a child under 4 feet is $20.

1-hour ride

Passes an Amish one-room schoolhouse and stops at an Amish/Mennonite craft and bake shop the site says is known for shoofly pie. Adults are $50 and a child under 4 feet is $25.

6.5-mile ride

The longest published route: Amish farms, a schoolhouse, Amish businesses, and a dirt road through farmland. Adults are $65 and a child under 4 feet is $30.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Amish tours in Lancaster, PA?

+

It depends on the format. For a horse-and-buggy ride, Aaron & Jessica's lists adults from $18 (30–35 minutes) and Abe's from $21 (about 30 minutes). For a farmhouse, The Amish Village lists adults at $15. The most-reviewed Lancaster product on Viator in this set is the Premium Amish Country Tour with the Amish Farm and House: from $38.95, 2–3 hours, rated 4.7 from 1,431 reviews. Small-group homestead visits, including a meal in an Amish home, are listed from $58.95 to $99.

How much are buggy rides in Lancaster, PA?

+

Adult prices published on the operator sites: Aaron & Jessica's from $18 (Country & Cookie, 30–35 minutes) to $35 (farm tour, 50–60 minutes), plus a Sunday-only ride at $20. Abe's from $21 for 3 miles (about 30 minutes) to $65 for 6.5 miles (about 1 hour 15 minutes). AAA Buggy Rides from $26 (35 minutes) to $40 (65 minutes). Each site charges less for children.

How much do Amish tours in Lancaster, PA cost?

+

On the operator sites, adult tickets start at $15 for The Amish Village farmhouse tour and $28.95 for the classic bus tour at the Amish Farm and House. Viator from-prices for the local tours here run from $29.95 (Amish Experience farmlands tour) to $99 (loKal Experiences van tours). A guided day trip from Philadelphia is listed from $249 per person. These figures were published on October 15, 2026. The booking page has the price for your date.

Are there free Amish tours in Lancaster, PA?

+

None of these operators publish a free guided tour for adults. The lowest adult ticket in this guide is $15 for The Amish Village farmhouse and village tour, and that ticket lists children age 0–4 as free. Aaron & Jessica's and AAA list children 2 and under as free on their buggy rides.

Where can I see the Amish in Lancaster?

+

Buggy rides and the Amish Experience list addresses on Old Philadelphia Pike in Bird-in-Hand: Aaron & Jessica's and the Amish Experience at 3121, and Abe's at 2596. AAA Buggy Rides lists 3461 Old Philadelphia Pike. The Amish Village is at 199 Hartman Bridge Road in Ronks. The Amish Farm and House is at 2395 Covered Bridge Drive in Lancaster. These are working farms and roads, not a single viewing spot.

Are Amish tours worth it?

+

A buggy ride is the short, specific version: about 30 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, at adult prices from $18 to $65, on a horse-drawn route. A bus or van tour costs more and adds a guide, with local Viator listings from $29.95 to $99 and a Philadelphia day trip from $249. The Visit-In-Person and meal tours are the ones that enter a home or workshop; they cap the group at 14 and cost $58.95 to $99. Sunday is the awkward day: Aaron & Jessica's publishes a Sunday ride, while several bus tours skip Amish business stops that day.

What is the difference between Lancaster Amish bus tours and buggy rides?

+

A buggy ride is a horse-drawn carriage on a set route, booked directly with Aaron & Jessica's, Abe's, or AAA. A bus or van tour is a guided ride for a larger group: The Amish Village and the Amish Experience use vehicles of up to 14 seats, the Amish Farm and House runs a countryside minibus, and loKal Experiences uses a van for trips capped at 14 guests.

More Lancaster tours, including food tours and scooter rides booked directly, are on the tours rankings.
