Strasburg Rail Road is running three Christmas trains in 2026: Santa’s Paradise Express, Night Before Christmas, and the sensory-friendly Santa Claus Limited. On the event pages checked October 30, 2026, the season spans November 21 through December 24, and it is not the same train every day. Online or credit-card fares start at $31.80 for a child on Santa Claus Limited and $37.10 for a child on the other two. Adult online fares are $42.40 on the Limited and $47.70 on Santa’s Paradise Express and Night Before Christmas. Children under 2 ride free on a lap. Each ride is a 45-minute round trip to Paradise, PA.

This page is only the 2026 holiday trains. The year-round steam ride is the Strasburg Rail Road listing. County drive-throughs and light walks, including the short Night Before Christmas note already published there, are on the Lancaster Christmas lights guide. If a dollar, a clock time, or a date was not on strasburgrailroad.com on October 30, 2026, it is not in the table below.

The button opens the railroad’s Train Schedule and Book Tickets page on Etix, the same destination as that item in the site menu. Each event page also has its own Book Now link. Prices in this guide were read on the event pages, not re-copied from Etix. Santa’s Paradise Express tickets, Night Before Christmas tickets, and Santa Claus Limited tickets.

Santa’s Paradise Express

The Santa’s Paradise Express page calls this the most festive of the Christmas trains. Trains run Saturdays and Sundays from November 21 through December 20, plus Friday, November 27, and every day from December 21 through Christmas Eve. The line under the headline shortens the last stretch to Dec 21–24. It says frequent daytime departures. It does not print a clock time, so this guide does not invent one.

The ride is a 45-minute round trip to Paradise, PA. Carolers and brass musicians visit every car. Santa’s helpers deliver a gift from the North Pole to each family. Santa stops for every family, hears wishes, and poses for a photo. A professional photographer travels with Santa, and the page says photo packages are available in the station. It does not print a photo price.

On weekends through December 20, the page says to arrive early for complimentary revue shows on the Town Square Stage. The shows are “A Very Durante Christmas” and “Jump, Jive, and Jingle,” and they alternate from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The same page says children can write and mail a letter to Santa at Lefever Hall. It does not say those shows run on December 21 through Christmas Eve.

Quick-details prices, repeated in the body, are $47.70 adult (12+) and $37.10 child (2–11). The body says those are the online or credit-card prices. Cash at the box office, or a Strasburg Rail Road gift card, is $45 and $35. Children under 2 ride free on a parent’s lap. The quick-details ages line says all ages. Parking is free. The page says Christmas trains sell out fast and to book online early.

First class is an upgrade: more comfortable seating, plus a cookie and a hot chocolate for every guest. The dining car is a separate booking for a meal on board. The page does not print a first-class dollar amount or a dining-car dollar amount. First-class and dining-car guests bring a valid photo ID to be scanned at check-in. The page also says private caboose charters are $477 per party on half-hour departures only. The caboose’s own page shows a different figure, in the add-on section below. This guide prints both and does not average them.

The all-events card for this train uses different words. It says “LIMITED AVAILABILITY,” a ride on the dinner car, and a meal, with Santa aboard. The event page describes the coach ride and treats the dining car as an upgrade. Read the event page for what the $47.70 ticket includes, and read the dining upgrade as a separate product the page does not price.

Night Before Christmas

Night Before Christmas is the evening train. The page says it has been a Strasburg tradition for about 15 years. Trains run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights from November 21 through December 20, plus Monday through Wednesday, December 21–23. The page does not list a departure clock time. It says the steam train travels after dark, past twinkling Christmas lights, on a 45-minute round trip to Paradise, PA.

A storyteller in the car recites Clement Clarke Moore’s poem and other Christmas stories. Carolers visit every car to sing and dance. Milk and cookies are served to every guest, children and adults. Santa makes an appearance. The page does not say a gift is handed to each family, and it does not mention the Town Square Stage or Lefever Hall.

Prices match Santa’s Paradise Express: $47.70 and $37.10 online or by credit card, $45 and $35 cash or gift card, under 2 free on a lap. Parking is free. The page says the trains sell out quickly and recommends booking online in advance.

First class is described as the more intimate choice. First-class guests bring a valid photo ID to be scanned at check-in. The page says coach cars are livelier, with many families sharing the car. It does not mention a cookie, hot chocolate, or a dining car on this train, and it does not print a first-class price.

Santa Claus Limited

Santa Claus Limited is the sensory-friendly train. The page says it runs December 2 through December 18. Departures are 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 PM on Fridays. It does not publish Saturday or Sunday times. December 2, 2026 falls on a Wednesday and December 18, 2026 falls on a Friday, which matches a Wednesday-through-Friday span. The page itself states the weekdays and the times above.

The ride is 45 minutes through the Amish countryside and past twinkling Christmas lights, to Paradise and back. Santa stops at every family’s seat, talks with the children, hears wishes, and poses for a photo. Bring a camera, or buy a photo package in the station from the photographer who rides with Santa. The page does not print a package price. Children may hand Santa a letter or a wish list. They can also write and mail a letter to the North Pole at Lefever Hall.

The page says the train is for families who want a calmer visit. There are no carolers and no live musicians. Trains often carry fewer passengers than weekend Santa’s Paradise Express. The steam whistle still sounds. It names toddlers, grandparents, and families with sensory-sensitive children.

Online or credit-card prices are $42.40 for adults 12 and older and $31.80 for children 2 to 11. Cash at the box office, or a gift card, is $40 and $30. Children under 2 ride free on a lap. Parking is free. The page says the trains sell out quickly. First class is more comfortable seating, with a cookie and a hot chocolate for every guest, and a photo ID scanned at check-in. No first-class price is printed. The page does not mention a dining car.

First class, dining car, Club Car, and the caboose

Coach prices are the figures above. Anything private is a different page and a different total.

Per-seat first class is described on the three event pages and not priced on them. Santa’s Paradise Express and Santa Claus Limited include a cookie and a hot chocolate with first class. Night Before Christmas describes first class as quieter seating and a photo ID at check-in. Only the Paradise Express page mentions booking the dining car for a meal, and it does not give the meal price.

The Santa’s Paradise Express Club Car and the Night Before Christmas Club Car each list a charter of 10 seats at $768.50. Both pages describe exclusive use of the table side of the Henry K. Long, Car No. 75, for up to 10 people, for the 45-minute ride. Included: a first-class attendant, hot chocolate and a fresh cookie for every guest, Santa’s visit, and a gift for every child 11 and under. Extra snacks and drinks can be bought from the attendant. All 10 tickets are purchased together. Lap infants ride free and do not count toward the 10. One party per departure. The Paradise Club Car page says Saturday afternoons go first. Neither page prints a per-person breakdown of the $768.50.

The Christmas Caboose Charter page lists the caboose, 10 seats, at $491.31. The all-events index shows “from 491.31” beside that charter. The Santa’s Paradise Express page still says private caboose charters are $477 per party on half-hour departures only. Both numbers were on the site on October 30, 2026. They are not the same number. Use the caboose page for the $491.31 listing and the Paradise Express page for the $477 sentence, and confirm the total in the cart.

On the caboose page, the party has the car to itself for the 45-minute round trip, up to 10 guests, all 10 tickets together. Lap infants do not count toward the 10. Santa visits, and every child 11 and under gets a gift. The car is described as a wooden caboose built in 1925, with a cupola reached by a short ladder and an open rear platform. The page says an adult should go up to the cupola with a child, and that the car has steps at boarding. It asks parties who need a hand to say so at booking so ground-level seats can be ready. It says the caboose runs on the second consist, on every other departure through the day. That “every other departure” line is not the same sentence as the Paradise Express page’s “half-hour departures only.”

Whole-car charters are on the Christmas private charters page. Text 717-455-1042 with the date, the car, and the guest count, or call that number and leave a message. The page says the team returns every call, and that December weekends sell out fast. Prices on that page, which it says include the ticketing fee and are a flat price no matter how many of the seats you fill:

  • Marian No. 88, the parlor car: 37 guests, $1,950 all-in. First-class attendant and bar service.
  • No. 118, the first-class coach: 24 guests, $1,200 all-in. Attendant and bar service.
  • No. 75, the lounge: 14 guests, $775 all-in. Attendant and bar service. This is the lounge side of No. 75, not the $768.50 Club Car on the table side.
  • Private coach: up to 70 guests, $2,400 all-in. Seating only. The page says this one does not include an attendant or bar service, and that it includes Santa’s visit and the Santa’s Paradise Express experience.

Tickets, check-in, parking, and photos

The three event pages tell guests to book online because the trains sell out. The FAQ says the railroad encourages pre-reserving online or by phone, and that East Strasburg Station has tickets for most rides and events on site. It says every ticket is non-refundable and non-transferable, that all sales are final, and that staff will work with a guest who cannot make the reserved time on a rebook or an exchange. It does not promise a refund.

The same FAQ says trains leave at the scheduled time and that ticketed passengers should board about 10 to 15 minutes before departure. It does not list Christmas departure times. For the Limited, use the clock times on that event page and count back 10 to 15 minutes. For the other two trains, the event pages do not publish the clock time, so the 10-to-15-minute line cannot be turned into an arrival time until the ticket shows a departure. The FAQ also says Cafe 1832 and the gift shops open one hour before the first train of the day. It does not say that hour is different in December.

First-class guests, and dining-car guests on Santa’s Paradise Express, bring a valid photo ID to be scanned at check-in. That is the check-in rule the event pages actually print.

Parking is free on all three event pages. The FAQ says the lot is on site, a short walk from the station, that drop-offs are allowed near the station entrances, and that special events may use remote parking with a free shuttle. It does not say which Christmas hour uses the shuttle. Directions are on the directions page: Route 741, 1 1/2 miles east of the center square in Strasburg, with Route 30, Route 1, and Route 222 approaches spelled out there. The street address and the 1-800-514-3849 general number are on the contact page.

The FAQ says the passenger train does not meet current ADA standards because the cars are historic. A mobile lift is available for guests who use a wheelchair or mobility device or who have trouble with steps. The page notes a combined weight limit of 400 pounds and says the railroad cannot guarantee accessibility. The business office number printed there for those questions is 717-687-8421, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., holidays excluded. That is a different number from the general 1-800-514-3849 line on the contact page. The caboose page adds its own warning about steps and the cupola ladder.

Photo packages are mentioned on the Paradise Express and Limited pages and are not priced there. The FAQ says you can view and purchase photos from specialty trains if you still have the photo receipt from that day. It does not print a package price either. Night Before Christmas does not mention a photographer.

Which train suits whom

Toddlers and sensory-sensitive children are the group the Limited page names. It is the shorter published window, weekday late afternoons and evenings from December 2 through December 18, without carolers or musicians. The whistle still blows. A toddler who needs the quieter car is the Limited. A toddler who wants singing is the other two trains, and the page for those trains does not call them quiet.

An evening of lights is Night Before Christmas. The page puts the ride after dark, past Christmas lights, with the poem, carolers, milk and cookies, and Santa. It does not publish the departure grid, so the ticket is what tells you the hour. Families who want a daytime ride with brass, a gift for the family, and the weekend stage shows are on the Paradise Express page. The stage is weekends through December 20, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, not a promise for Christmas Eve.

A meal on the train is the dining-car line on the Paradise Express page, and that page does not price it. A private table for up to 10, with cocoa and a cookie, is the Club Car at $768.50. The caboose is the car to yourselves at the back, with the price conflict noted above. A group that wants a whole parlor, lounge, or coach is the private-charter list, booked by text at 717-455-1042.

Worth it, on the prices that were actually printed, is a 45-minute steam ride with Santa from $31.80 online for a child on the Limited, or $37.10 online for a child on the other two, with adults at $42.40 or $47.70 online. Cash or a gift card is the lower pair of numbers on each page. Under 2 is a lap, not a seat. The pages say the trains sell out, so the planning risk is the date, not a hidden parking fee. Parking is the one extra the event pages mark as free.

None of the three pages says the train runs on a day outside that list.

How much are Strasburg Christmas train tickets?

Cash at the box office, or a Strasburg Rail Road gift card, is $45 and $35 on those two pages. Santa Claus Limited lists $42.40 and $31.80 online or by credit card, or $40 and $30 cash or gift card. Children under 2 ride free on a parent’s lap on all three pages. Those pages do not print a per-seat first-class price or a dining-car price.

What time do the Strasburg Christmas trains leave?

Santa Claus Limited is the only one of the three event pages that prints clock times: 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 PM on Fridays. The Santa’s Paradise Express page says frequent daytime departures and does not list clock times. The Night Before Christmas page does not list clock times. The railroad FAQ says passengers should board about 10 to 15 minutes before the scheduled departure and that trains leave at that time. The FAQ does not print a Christmas timetable.

Are children under 2 free on the Strasburg Santa train?

Yes, on the wording of all three event pages checked October 30, 2026. Children under 2 ride free on a parent’s lap. The child price on each page starts at age 2. The Club Car and Christmas Caboose pages add that lap infants do not count toward the 10-guest party.

Which Strasburg Christmas train is sensory-friendly?

The Santa Claus Limited page calls that train sensory-friendly. It says there are no carolers and no live musicians, that trains often carry fewer passengers than weekend Santa’s Paradise Express, and that the steam whistle still sounds. It names toddlers, grandparents, and families with sensory-sensitive children. Santa’s Paradise Express has carolers and brass. Night Before Christmas has a storyteller, carolers, and milk and cookies.

The contact page lists the location address as 301 Gap Road, Ronks, PA 17572-9566, and the general information phone as 1-800-514-3849. The site footer prints 301 Gap Road, Ronks, PA 17572. The directions page says the railroad is on Route 741, 1 1/2 miles east of the center square in Strasburg. All three Christmas event pages say parking is free. The FAQ says parking is on site, a short walk from the station, and that special events may use remote parking with a free shuttle. It does not name which Christmas departures use the remote lot.

Do Strasburg Christmas trains sell out?

Each of the three event pages says the Christmas trains sell out quickly and points guests to booking online. The railroad FAQ says tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, that all sales are final, and that the railroad will work with a guest who cannot make the reserved time on a rebook or an exchange. This page does not have a live seat count.

What is included on each Strasburg Christmas train?

All three pages describe a 45-minute round trip to Paradise, PA, and a visit from Santa. Santa’s Paradise Express adds carolers and brass, a gift for each family, and photo packages in the station. Night Before Christmas adds a storyteller reading the poem, carolers, and milk and cookies for every guest. Santa Claus Limited is the quieter train: no carolers or musicians, a seat-side Santa visit, and letters to Santa at Lefever Hall. First class, the dining car, the Club Car, and the caboose are separate add-ons, and the event pages do not fold those prices into the coach ticket.
